The Tabitha Bag
Bringing a good cause and greta fashion together
It is the brain child of Melora Johnson originally from Boston in the USA, and now living in South West London. Her love of fashion, her deep desire to help children, and her ability to motivate and inspire a broad range of people has enabled this project to come to life. She enlisted the help and support from a group of extremely talented women, all of whom she met through the school run. They are affectionately known as The Bag Ladies.
Melora says ‘We have radically different backgrounds and seven kids between us. Most of our meetings involve fighting for table space at the local Starbucks and trying not to spill coffee on the press samples. We collectively identify and reach out to other members of the ‘mummy mafia’ to bring in additional specialists, from PR contacts, to import experts, when we need them. We have all donated our time on a strictly pro-bono basis and simply share a passion to contribute our skills and our talents towards a challenging project with amazing potential to change lives’.
The Bag Ladies have designed and produced the Tabitha Bag to raise funds to support TBACT’s Baba Programmes in Bulgaria. A total of 500 bags have been produced and 100% of the net profits will go towards the hiring of new Baba’s in one of the country’s biggest institutions for babies and young children. If all the bags are sold, forty children can be matched with a Baba to care, nurture and love them.
